Learning & Play Areas

Fennies at Kings Hall prides itself in its friendly staff and offers high class childcare. Each room has a fully qualified room leader who leads their team in providing age appropriate stimulating activities which encourage the children to explore their environment.

Every child is allocated a Key Person. The key person communicates with you and your baby/child ensuring their daily routine is followed and their needs are met. At the end of each day we give you feedback, keeping you up to date with all the activities your child has experienced throughout the day. It is this key person who will monitor your child's development closely ensuring activities will enhance their learning and development at their pace.

All settling in is free of charge. We are aware that it can be a difficult period and parents are welcome to attend sessions to liaise with staff and build up their child's confidence.
Parents evenings take place each term for all the children where you have the opportunity to discuss at length the progress your child has made with his/her Key person and the Manager of the nursery.

Kings Hall Latest News:

On the 12th October the fire brigade from Beckenham fire station came to visit our nursery at Kings Hall. All the children were very exited to see the big red fire engine. We all took turns getting into the fire truck and putting on the fire officer’s helmet. They even sounded the alarms and
put on the blue flashing light. We are all looking forward to another visit from them next year. What a great day we had.

Babies

For 3-12 month olds and 12-24 month olds. Staff Ratio 1:3
On the first floor we have two baby rooms for children from the ages of three months to two years of age. Included in their daily routine are story time, singing, puppets and musical instruments. Each child is encouraged to develop and use their senses by exploring different textures with messy play, sand, water and painting.

Toddlers

For 2-3 year olds. Staff Ratio 1:4
On the ground floor we have a toddler room with lots of natural light providing a very comfortable environment. We provide many stimulating activities for your child including music, dancing, cooking in one part of the room, and messy and creative play in the other part.

Pre-School

For 3-5 year olds. Staff Ratio 1:8
The pre-school room is also on the ground floor split in two rooms. One of our principal aims is to ensure the children receive high quality care and early education. We provide a balanced provision of adult supported play experiences within rich, stimulating indoor and outdoor environments. Both of the rooms are divided into different sections to encourage both their physical and emotional development. The messy area has paints, play dough, glue, sand, glitter, shaving foam and water play. The language and literacy corner is a large and comfortable area which has an extensive selection of books and computers. The maths area has a large construction and various table top activities. Our role play area changes to coincide with each theme. Also included in the day to day activities we have visits from specialists in other fields such as dance, movement and language, these activities helping to expand each child's abilities .

Outside Play & Learning

Our planned activities are play based for both inside and outside as we value the importance of outdoor play. We are especially lucky as the garden is large which allows the children to develop their physical skills. There are scooters, bikes and push along toys as well as a herb garden where the children delight in growing various herbs, vegetables and flowers.

Meal Times

Lunchtime is an opportunity where children can develop their social skills and also help the staff set the table for lunch. Meals are homemade and prepared fresh every day. We encourage children to serve themselves with staff assistance as this enables the children to become independent. Special dietary requirements are catered for; our cook attends all current training courses for dietary requirements and nutrition for under fives. The nursery provides a varied and nutritionally balanced diet and we do not use salt, pepper, sugar, colouring or artificial flavourings in any of the meals. Children attending a full day at our nursery will enjoy breakfast, morning and afternoon snack, a hot lunch with pudding and a light tea. In addition to milk or water at mealtimes, drinking water is always available throughout the day.
