Fennies are delighted to announce that Beech House has been fully refurbished to provide outstanding facilities to children across Sanderstead. As our smallest setting, Beech House is small and intimate with a calm and friendly family atmosphere and a large garden area, set in a quiet residential area.

This already hugely popular nursery provides exceptional facilities for your child. The development offers two baby rooms, a toddler room and a pre-school facility. New exciting resources to support the six areas of development have been added to enhance the rooms. These include computers, sensory resources, storage to enhance children’s independence and choice, two level activity loft houses perfect for extended play and/or quiet areas. The garden has also been completely re-landscaped to provide a designated baby play area, a covered sand area, an outside classroom, tactile and physical resources and an area to promote natural discovery.

We focus on providing a safe environment for parents to leave their children knowing that we are promoting independence, confidence and encouraging social interaction before children leave for school. We have links in the local area to the primary schools and work with them sharing knowledge when children are moving on. Beech House will always endeavour to work with individual families and any attached outside agencies with regards to any potential special need.

Learning & Play Areas

Fennies at Beech House
prides itself in its friendly staff and offers high class childcare. Each room has a fully qualified room leader who leads their team in providing age appropriate stimulating activities which encourage the children to explore their environment.

Every child is allocated a Key Person. The key person communicates with you and your baby/child ensuring their daily routine is followed and their needs are met. At the end of each day we give you feedback, keeping you up to date with all the activities your child has experienced throughout the day. It is this key person who will monitor your child's development closely ensuring activities will enhance their learning and development at their pace.

Parents evenings take place each term for all the children where you have the opportunity to discuss at length the progress your child has made with his/her Key person and the Manager of the nursery.

Beech House Latest News:

Beech House pre-school children went on a Toddle Waddle on 8th April 2011 to Sanderstead Park (opposite the shops) to raise money for the Meningitis Trust.

We had a great time and ‘waddled’ the whole way round the park, finishing with some fun in the playground!  We had some parents along with us, including 3 parent representatives.

Everybody had a great time and we raised an amazing total of £571!

Babies

For 3-12 month olds and 12-24 month olds. Staff Ratio 1:3
Two new baby rooms will be located on the ground floor and first floor.
These rooms work together with four members of staff to prepare babies for toddler and pre-school rooms. Staffs are calm, patient and loving with the babies and are always there for a cuddle. A baby's day is full of play and exciting activities which include painting, drawing, cooking and garden play. There is also singing, story telling and various music styles playing in the background every day. New resources and activities will provide an exciting and stimulating atmosphere for the babies.

Toddlers

For 2-3 year olds. Staff Ratio 1:4
The new toddler room, located on the first floor, will be resourced effectively to support the growing needs of the children. A two tier loft owl forest will be installed to support physical play and will be used to develop muscle co-ordination but can also be used as an area to support friendships, story-time or an area for children to share together. The resources have been chosen to reflect the individual needs of the children and will promote independence and choice.

Pre-School

For 3-5 year olds. Staff Ratio 1:8
The new pre-school room on the ground floor offers access to the outside area independently on a daily basis.
There are three members of staff providing a friendly and fun atmosphere. There will be a variety of resources to support and enhance children's individual development and promote their growing independence in readiness for school. Computers, writing materials, books, arts and crafts, cooking, role play, knowledge of the world, maths and developing relationships with others are all key areas that have been resourced.

Outside Learning & Play

The fantastic new garden area will be safe, secure and stimulating. Having been completely re-landscaped with a combination of activities, textured play areas and key development resources, the garden area is an extension of the excellent facilities offered inside which your child can enjoy throughout the day. Access to water and sand play, an outside classroom, a discovery area for wildlife and growing, a designated baby area and resources to develop physical play are all included.

Meal Times

Beech House nursery provides a varied and nutritionally balanced diet, using fresh and seasonal ingredients, all cooked by our fully trained Chef. We do not use salt, pepper, sugar, colourings or artificial flavourings in any of the meals. Children attending a full day at our nursery will enjoy breakfast, morning and afternoon snacks, a hot lunch with pudding and a light tea. The children are often involved in making their own tea and enjoy making cakes, cheese straws, jelly and fruit salads. In addition to milk or water at mealtimes, drinking water is always available throughout the day.
