Learning & Play Areas Fennies at Addiscombe prides itself in its friendly staff and offers high class childcare. The nursery encourages visits from anyone in the local community to help children's knowledge and understanding. These include the Police, Health Visitors, Pet Shop owners and Librarians.
At Fennies, all children are allocated a key person to work closely with parents and the family. The key worker will build a trusting relationship which gives the child confidence while parents are not at the nursery. The key worker relies upon knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage to plan activities which support the child's individual needs. Through observation during their day at Fennies and the information shared from parents, every child will have activities dedicated to the improvement of skills for their age and stage of development. Their key worker communicates with you on a daily basis and will support your child's daily routine in line with guidelines and legislation. At the end of each day your child's key person will report back on their day, keeping you up to date with all the activities your child has been involved in and any other information that you need.
Parents evenings take place each term for all the children where you have the opportunity to discuss at length the progress your child has made with his/her Key person and the Manager of the nursery.

This room is equipped with air conditioning and up to date resources, and there are three computers with various programs for the children to use. The same activities are within the rooms but with more emphasis on independence, children's cooking, and accessing activities of their choice.
Pre-School
For 3-5 year olds. Staff Ratio 1:8 Our pre-school rooms are on the first floor. One of our principal aims is to ensure children receive high quality care and early education. We provide a balanced provision of adult supported and play experiences within rich stimulating indoor and outdoor environments. The bathrooms both downstairs and upstairs are complete with low level toilets, sinks, fun soap, and paper towels to enable the staff to encourage the children’s independence with their personal hygiene.
Outside Play & Learning
There is a large soft play garden area, with toys and equipment for the children to practice particular skills and improvement development in all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Children are encouraged to develop their physical skills by providing them with a garden stocked with scooters, bikes and push along toys. The garden also has an outside pavilion to allow for other activities and outside learning to take place.
Meal Times
The nursery provides a varied and nutritionally balanced meal cooked entirely in house by our fully trained Chef who does not use salt, pepper, sugar, colourings or artificial flavourings in the meals. Menus are revised every term with added seasonal vegetables and fruit available to the children. Children attending a full day at our nursery will enjoy breakfast, morning and afternoon snack, a hot lunch with dessert and a light tea. In addition to milk or water at mealtimes, drinking water is always available during the day. View our Menu
